Slim Aarons, the king of Hollywood photography

February 26, 2013
Noted for photographing socialites, jet-setters and celebrities, and a contributor to Life and Holiday magazines during their respective heydays, the legendary Slim Aarons (my favourite lifestyle photographer of all time) had a motto for his work - capturing "attractive people who were doing attractive things in attractive places." And no place was more attractive to him than Italy, with whom he had a love affair.

What I love about his photos is their ability to totally transport you to a place of beauty and opulence. The subjects he photographed were part of that post-war Californian celebrity lifestyle – the jet set crowd. St. Tropez, Monte Carlo, pool parties, cocktails and fabulous fashion. I could sit and look at his photos for hours. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

If only I could fill each and every wall with these amazing and historic art pieces...“Once upon a time, life was not better. It was different. Once upon a time everything was optimism, because nothing was bad for you.”

Exactly, Slim, exactly.

What about you? Do you love Slim Aarons as much as I do?

Love,
Amy
